When we first floated the idea of Between the Sticks, we knew there was a gap for goalkeepers — but the response we’ve had already has genuinely blown us away.

The feedback from goalkeeper coaches has been hugely positive. Coaches see the value in a competitive but fun environment, built on Goalie Wars rules, that gives keepers something extra to work towards alongside their grassroots football.

So much so, that we’ve now confirmed the first Series 1 location — with more potentially to follow based on demand.

📍 Series 1 – First Location Confirmed

• Area: Blackburn

• Venue: St Bede’s High School (3G)

• Start date: Tuesday 2nd June

• Duration: 10-week series

• Time: 7:15pm – 8:15pm
  
  

🧤 Age Groups – Series 1

Based on early interest, the first confirmed age group for Series 1 is U10s in the Blackburn area.

However, goalkeepers aged U7–U16 are encouraged to register their interest regardless of location.

If demand for a particular age group and area (e.g. Preston, surrounding towns) is strong enough, additional groups and/or locations will be added to Series 1.

This allows us to build leagues where numbers, ages, and locations make sense — keeping the competition fair and enjoyable.

Between the Sticks is a league built on Goalkeeper Wars rules, designed to:

• Test decision-making under pressure

• Give goalkeepers real glory moments

• Create competitive environments that support development

• Sit alongside club football, not replace it
  

All matches are reffed and overseen by a former academy goalkeeper, with games filmed and highlights available throughout the series.
